About Me

I’m a voracious reader, hobby novelist, and Author Accelerator Certified Book Coach.

What is a Book Coach?

Book coaches helps writers plan, draft, revise, or publish their work. Our focus is on the writer as well as the writing; helping them build a book or a practice or a career just as much as providing a particular service.

I learned how to do this work through the Author Accelerator Certification Program and am certified to coach fiction.

What genres do you coach?

I love working with contemporary fiction, romance, and light science fiction and fantasy. I enjoy weird little books, big crazy books, and anything that bends or blends genres. I read widely, and I love to help people write books I would want to read.

I am not a good fit for horror, intense thrillers, or heavily religious fiction.

What is your background?

I’ve always loved to write, and I’ve always done it alongside whatever else I was doing. From the black-and-white marble composition books in which I scribbled my earliest manuscripts to a college computer lab in the deserted pre-dawn hours to lunch-hour notes on my phone, I’ve woven writing into every era of my life.

In college I took fiction and poetry classes, amassing a minor in English alongside my majors in Physics and Math. In graduate school, I completed a Ph.D. in Materials Science, snuck into a fiction course taught by a rising-star novelist, and wrote a novel of my own alongside my thesis. While I worked as a software developer, I took writing classes online and joined critique groups.
